One of these declares that, if they perish, they desire their remains to be buried apart, and not mingled with the bones of unbelievers, even if the latter be their fathers or their children, Since our Souls will be eternally separated, and our affection will not continue beyond this life. The missionaries baptize certain Iroquois captives during their torments; this incenses the Hurons, who already distrust the Fathers, on account of slanderous rumors that the latter are secretly leagued with the Iroquois.
