Faint water stain on top edges of front card extending halfway through book that does not affect text. very good A prolific Canadian writer and poet, Layton was a controversial figure and influenced many other Canadian poets including Leonard Cohen. Nominated for the 1981 Nobel Prize for Literature, he won the 1959 Governor-General's Award and was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. A collection of selected poems from the first ten years of Layton's work with an introduction by the famous American poet Dr. William Carlos Williams. Warmly inscribed by the author on front endpaper to Karl Kiralis, an english professor who specialized in William Blake's works.
