The series of vampire novels by L.A. Banks about a young, good looking, black female vampire hunter was something missing on the shelves of librarys and book stores.
I personally love vampire novels, like Anne Rice's Vampire Lestat series as well as the off shoots of that series and I found the tales of Damali Richards, vampire hunter and Carlos Rivera, vampire, which now spand several books, refreshing and exciting.
While Damali fights her own inner battles concerning her love for Carlos, when needed, he comes through for her, since his love for her will not let her come to harm.
She is aware of the problems a vampire huntress loving a vampire brings, especially to her team of vampire hunters - but she finds ways to protect them as well.
Ms Banks has entered this genre of writing with a great entry and she keeps the storys new vibrant. Its great to have yet one more female writer join the ranks of Anne Rice.
