My best friend from childhood was involved with E.J. Gold and his group for several years, and he recommended this book. I however, was not especially impressed. There is a whole body of literature and it seems that one should have read earlier work in order to understand Gold's meanings of Gurdjieffian concepts.
I've read 'Practical Work on Self, 'Life in the Labyrinth,' and 'The American Book of the Dead,' and found all of them all superior reads.
