This, so far, is a well-written, erudite novel. If you want Historical American Lit., this is a good book to pick up. I don't know why we never heard about Mr. Thompson and this novel in college, but it's worthy of making an appearance on a university syllabus. If you like beautiful imagery and interesting characters, come to Vermont circa 1770s.
