To properly understand the condition of things we must glance backward through the history of the Country to 30th of November, 1782, when the Independence of the United States of America was conceded by UK. At that time the population of the US was about 2,500,000 free whites and some 500,000 black slaves. We had gained our Independence of the Mother Country. John Alexander Logan (1826-1886) was an American soldier and political leader. He served in the Mexican-American War and was a general in the Union Army in the American Civil War.
