Like all of the five Bette Hagman books I own, this one was a disappointment also. I use a lot of the other grains like quinoa, amaranth, teff, sorghum, buckwheat, etc. with the non-nutritious starches many celiacs use. I had thought maybe this one would actually have some interesting recipes using both. I think there are only about a dozen recipes for the other grains - only 1-3 for each. The rest are the run-of-the-mill celiac recipes you find anywhere. She does mention montina, a relatively new & very expensive grain on the market. Several of those dozen recipes are for that, so there are really fewer recipes for what I do use.
In all fairness to Hagman, her recipes do work & are quite good.
My biggest beef with her is that they are not usually very healthy - high in fats & sugar, low in real nutrition. They also use some odd ingredients which you have to buy specifically for that recipe which are not used in too many other recipes. That makes her recipes more expensive.
Frankly, I find more recipes online. I just google what I want to make for dinner with whatever main ingredient & bingo - I have a 4" notebook ful of recipes I do use.
