Elizabeth Lemarchand is one of my favorite mystery writers. This is a good story, although not a puzzling mystery. The culprit is pretty obvious, but the characters are interesting and there is a happy ending for one from an earlier book. One detail I found a little odd was the police's difficulty in identifying the second victim. Since they knew he had been in jail in Australia, I would have thought that the police there could have sent his photo and fingerprints. Even so, I just finished reading the book a second time and consider it a good read and would recommend it.
