This book is an updated version of the 1955 edition we have used and referred to over the past 45 plus years. It is still the book we have recommended to fellow owners of German Shepherds for it's historical content of the GS especially. It's loaded with good information backed up by sound judgement. When someone wanted to borrow our old book, I searched in the Alibris website to see if any were still available and discovered there is an updated version, which I promtly purchased. The newer version still includes all the old information, with some updates on changes in the standard of the dog plus many new photos. My husband and I definitely recommend it. I still referred to it during our recent breeding experience with our male and female Shepherds, and again with the pup we kept.
