Three or four stone steps, also, in pretty good order, lead from the road to the wilderness above and we approached the spot, not without some misgiv ings, concerning the correctness of our supposi tion that this is one of the most noteworthy of the shrines of old Westchester. The entire eu closure is covered with a mass of bushes and briars, interwoven with weeds and long coarse grass; and the 'moss-covered memorials of by gone generations as well as those which record the names of the more recent occupants, are often obscured by the encroachments of these unbidden and unwelcome tenants.
