This is a book that will connect you to the complex roots of what was happening when God arrived, why that matters, and how we can continue on the work. Kelley dives into the economics and politics of the region while talking of peace, justice, lament, hope, resilience, challenges, and more. Reading this book has helped me understand so many stories and people in the gospels, not just those present in the Advent narrative. It is not a traditional Advent book, nor one that needs to be read during Advent, it is an eye opening book for anytime of year.
