Amanda Dubin wants her abusive husband dead and is willing to spend $50,000 on a Contractor (the assassins the Trust trains) to get it done. It's still killing a guy all the same, but it isn't like a Tier Ten presidential assassination or anything. Black doesn't realize how wrong he is until he's tracked down Amanda's husband to a strip club and barely survived an intense firefight. Before croaking, the scumbag gives him a single clue-someone needs Amanda alive . When someone does indeed kidnap Amanda, Black vows to track whoever it is down. Some might say it's because of a previously unseen sensitive side, but Black isn't missing his killer instinct or apathy for the common man. He's just missing Amanda's signature on his Contract Waiver. He doesn't dare go back to the Trust without it.
