Jonas and Madison are both agents with the U.S. Marshalls.Ã?â?? They both have been tasked with transporting two prisoners across several states.Ã?â?? They are flying with two pilots and two felons.Ã?â?? Madison's husband was murdered several years ago.Ã?â?? After his death, she joined the Marshall's for a change or new start.Ã?â?? While still on the police force she did some training with Jonas so they had met before being paired together for this mission.Ã?â?? When their plane crashes over the woods in Iowa, the two must go on a cross country man hunt.Ã?â?? First they must survive the wilds of the woods while chasing a dangerous man.Ã?â?? Ã?â??
Lisa Harris pulls me in from the first pages with her intriguing plot, unexpected plot twists and wonderful characters.Ã?â?? Then add to that a character or two that struggles with their faith and a bit of romance and you have the makings of a great book!Ã?â?? You have two people who are use to being in control and having order in their lives.Ã?â?? Both have experienced a tragedy that has rocked their neatly ordered lives.Ã?â?? Both have focused on their careers while coming to grips with the changes in their lives.Ã?â?? Can the two open up their hearts and let go of some of their control so they can get to know one another better?Ã?â?? Harris does a great job writing the characters struggle with control.Ã?â?? I am disappointed with the amount she delves into the struggle with trusting God after tragedy.Ã?â?? She does address this in the book but I feel that is is not up to her usual depth as she has in her other full length novels.
I definitely recommend this book.Ã?â?? Ã?â?? I received a free copy from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.

Top Notch
Lisa Harris' new series, US Marshals, is top notch. The first book, The Escape, follows two Marshals on a manhunt for an escaped murderer who manages to stay one step ahead of them. The Marshals must continually stay on the move, adjusting their plans to his unexpected tactics, putting themselves at risk in their attempts to successfully complete their mission. Sometimes, however, danger lurks where least expected.
Harris' writing is fast-paced and intense. This is a difficult book to walk away from. Readers will likely finish it in record time because they will continually say, ââ?¬Å"just one more chapter,ââ?¬Â? late into the night. The theme of trying to move on from one's circumstances resonates with each character, some by manipulating situations, others by trying to accept the past and to make a better future relying on God and loved ones. I am grateful to have received an advanced copy of The Escape as part of the author's launch team and an e-copy from NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
