In 1988 I bought a copy of "Marching Through Georgia" , one of the three novels included in "The Domination". The paperback cover art showed unknown Soldiers fighting Wehrmacht forces. The insider pages listed how in 1782 the Loyalist left the Americas and moved to South Africa founding a colony called Draka. The action in this future history picks up in 1942 with a unit of Draka soldiers sent on a mission to hold up a German retreat. The commander of the unit is Eric Von Shrakenberg, the son of a current politician. These Draka start military training at age 5, then service at 18. These people make the Spartans seemlike play schoolers. If you like Turtledove's work you should enjoy this book. It combines all three Draka novels in one. If you want more Draka follow up with "Drakon", the fourth novel.
