Very good-condition. Book. Octavo (8vo). 224 pages of text. Original dark green hardcover binding with moderate shelfwear, including rubbing to the extremities and slight darkening of spine; protected in stiff custom archival mylar. Lacks front flyleaf (blank). Complete with half-title page, frontispiece, engraved illustrated title page, text, and four additional plates; contains six total illustrations. Reported to be the first book on sporting dogs published in America. The plates show the Setter, Newfoundland, Fox Hound, Shepherd's or Sheep Dog and Springer. Moderate foxing scattered throughout text, and previous owner's circular blindstamp on half-title and frontis. The author lived (1788-1851).
