As a young Israeli, and a citizen of the world, she tries in this album to bring together all of the influences that bear upon her country, including Western pop music. The result is a delicious and sexy combination of Arabic and Sephardic rhythms and accents with Western popular music á la Madonna and a bit of hip-hop and new age thrown in. Imagine something halfway between Ofra Haza and Delerium, and you'll have it. It's a far cry from the generic Westernized pop of her first album. The songs are dramatic and passionate and never less than interesting with all of the layered rhythm tracks, samples, strings, accordion, or whatever you want. "Shafshaf's Song" even features a Hebrew rap! There are genuine Middle Eastern instruments, too, alongside the synthesizers. "Taj Mahal" is a sensuous number featuring riffs and ornaments from the oud and the violin played Arabic style.
