Private detective Ricardo Cupido's methods are unorthodox. He listens to the suspects, rather then question them; and he reaches his conclusions by learning about the muder victim - a vivacious girl who was loved by all who knew her... men and women who have, obviously, competed for her love. The forest forms a wild and eerie setting for the murder, and for a second murder, where the reader shares the victim's last moments, feeling that this second death is inevitable. The story is creepy, it's mysterious, and very different to the "usual" detective novel.
