Bound in publisher's original reddish-brown cloth stamped in brown. Good, cloth mottled, boards splayed and worn through at edges. Foxing to textblock edge and pages toned, inner hinges exposed. In a tattered dust jacket repaired from the verso with mending tissue at the spine, front flap detached. The author's second published novel. Nelson was the first African American in South Carolina to publish a novel. All three of her novels were reprinted in 1976.
