There are as many instances of the creative trance as there are creative people and occurrences of their creativity. Shaped by individual experiences, environmental circumstances, differing physical capacities, and diverse cultural traditions, the creative trance takes numerous forms. Appearing differently in everyone, the creative trance is ubiquitous, identifiable, yet always unique. A metaphor for its multiple manifestations and individual aspects would be William Blake's description of sunshine, "the suns light when he unfolds it, depends on the organ that beholds it" (1793/1820, Frontispiece).
