A historical account, very well presented in time line as well as topic wise, of the Abbaside Caliphate giving historical and anecdotal description of the Caliphs and the empire arpund it. A very easy read, the book abounds with all the juicy details that made Richard Burton's transliteration of the Thousand and one Nights famous, as well as the gory dark side of the palaces and formidable ladies behind the scenes. A must read.
