Ok, me? I've been smithing and metal working for 60+ years.
This book, at even the original price, is fantastic for anyone that likes to work or play with metals. A couple times it saved me a whale of a lot of time and money by demystifying a process so I didn't have to re-invent the wheel.
It is not only about jewelery but a compendium of fabrication and finishing methods and information for any metals worker. Mostly about non-ferrous metals but good information about iron based metals also.
Tim has spent a lifetime smithing and compiling the information and you can use his information with respect. And, if you need even more information, you at least know what to call the process you are looking for and search further online. Worth its weight for that alone.
I prefer the wire bound one. It lays open on a desk or bench.

I first found the book some years back and made the mistake of loaning it out. Drat!
Bought a new one and that is why I am posting this info review.

The Complete Metalsmith
While McCreight's book is good, it is not as good as Oppi Untracht's 1968 text entitled 'Metal Techniques for Craftsmen.' Indeed, I suspect that much of McCreight's material came either from Untracht's book or its sources. That said, it's size is handy. It's a convenient reference for use in the shop.

A must have!
This book is truly one of the books you must have if you do any metal smithing. This is the one book that I go to time and time again when I'm not quite sure what I need to do. The instructions are clear and concise and the pictures are very helpful. This is my second copy! My old one was literallly falling apart from use. There is a vast amount of useful information in this book. This is the one book that I highly reccomend to students.
