Poor comforters will he find them! To believers, to Christians, to the disciples of the meek and lowly Jesus, this discourse is addressed. Charac ters of this sort, while in a pilgrimage state, and under a course of discipline, are-often in affliction, and in need Of comfort. To whom then shall we be directed for strength, when We are made weak, and for comfort, when we are in sorrow, but to God E' It may be said, God comforteth us, when he enables us to receive comfort from the revelation which he hath been pleased to give of the perfections of his nature, in the work of creation, and in the government of the world.
