This book came recommended by John Wilcox, author of the Simon Fonthill novels. I enjoy reading the Fonthill series, and was looking for a military history of the times, to put the novels in perspective. It is a great synopsis of Britain's colonial wars during the Victorian era. No surprise, since I was familiar with the author's work from the books he has written for Osprey Publishing. Enlightening and enjoyable.
