A change finally came from an unlikely place: he found a job as an unskilled laborer on a construction site, working outside through a punishing Maine winter. enjoyed reading this book 4 times in the past 2 yrs! once while I was doing a 19 month bit in a veterans' homeless shelter,(really!) Snyder's bonecrushingly painful honesty & his total naive understanding of the "real world" outside of the ivy covered towers of academe that he totally believe would would shelter and give a bountiful life to he & his very young; large (4 kids) family comes crashing down in the mid 90's. Inspirational!
