Anglo-Irish writer and diplomat Sir John Randolph Leslie, Bart (1885-1971) converted to Roman Catholicism and became a supporter of Irish Home Rule; he was witness to the negotiations resulting in the Treaty between Ireland and England. Here he considers the melding of the two cultures as the foundation of Britain and what it means in the course of the War; he notes that the European Celt fights for the Allies, while the American Celt is divided in sympathy.
