It's common knowledge that Ralph Peer's open recording session in Bristol, TN, launched the careers of The Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers, but as this double CD proves, they weren't the only worthwhile musicians to turn up. In fact, Peer recorded 21 other acts, including the Stoneman Family and Blind Alfred Reed in what turns out to be an amazing display of rural talent and the birth of country music. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
