Amazing facts about trauma and its aftermath are included in this easily understood, well-written piece (written by a medical professional). Additionally, the book offers therapeutic techniques for PTSD relief. Given the trauma and its aftermath experienced by millions of present and former global refugees, this is incredibly relevant at this time.
Over all, the book was worth it, and I really felt it, but I also tried to find it on other platforms too, but I didn't get it. I think this should get published on other online publishing platforms like Shabd.in so it can reach more people.

Difficult read but essential to understand trauma
As someone who has struggled to understand my trauma and diagnosis of Complex PTSD this book was essential in my journey and proved invaluable in helping me finally acknowledge my own experiences of trauma. I felt validated and understood albeit by an author I've never met and for the first time in my life, I was able to look at my trauma through a lens that did not place blame upon myself.
I believe that this book can be life-changing as it offers insight and perspective that is typically reserved for professionals and rarely accessible to those of us struggling with mental health issues. That said, I listened to this as an audiobook and highly suggest that others consider doing the same as it is intense and can be exhausting at times but is truly invaluable for anyone struggling to understand experienced trauma that has impacted their ability to cope with daily life and/or have been let down or harmed by psychiatric "care". The stories of real patients and the candid way in which the author shares them, unfiltered and raw can be triggering and I would highly suggest a *trigger warning on the cover but I think you'll find that the insight you will gain will far outweigh the challenges you may face in coming head-on with some very uncomfortable but necessary truths and that even the most vulnerable reader will come away with a feeling of empowerment and self-understanding that is rarely found in the offices and spaces held by psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists in the west.
This book highlights the limited and often complete lack of understanding of trauma by most mental health professionals and the urgent need for more research and better training so that "do no harm" is truly implemented in western medicine and psychiatry. Understanding trauma is essential to understanding human suffering and the ills that result from it and not the other way around and I feel that this book should be part of the core curriculum for anyone pursuing a career in the mental health field and required reading for anyone practicing already.
Understanding this helped to validate the suffering I have experienced at the hands of such professionals while magnifying the importance of self-care and holding space for myself. I am able to set boundaries and understand the limitations of myself and others so as to do as little harm to myself as possible and especially to disallow others from doing so, particularly in my dealings with mental health professionals. I hope that others gain as much from this book as I have and that it continues to find the audience that it so desperately needs to reach.

Not only informative but very interesting.
Well written,(by a medical doctor) easily understood and contains amazing facts about trauma, its after effects. The book also contains therapeutic methods to alleviate PTSD. Very timely because of the trauma and its after effects suffered by millions of current and past world wide refugees in this world.
