Nordine is far better known for his voiceover work than for his albums, but those who do know the albums know the Word Jazz series best. This 1990 compilation gathers together a good selection of the earlier material, recorded between 1957 and 1960. It has a beatnik sensibility, with rhythmic poetic lines underpinned by hip cool jazz backing.
