The Bedford Handbook is a great resource, particularly for its detailed instructions and examples on MLA format. Although I accidently bought the instructor's edition, rather than the student edition, there appear to be few differences between them, mostly consisting of additional notes in the instructor's edition about grammar and writing exercises.
