Excerpt from The Autobiography of James Crooks, A. M., M.D Presbyterian church for their long, unbroken chain of ruling elders. There is a memorial in the ruins of an old castle in that locality called Crookston, to which our ancestors were some way connected, but it has been impossible for us to trace the history of the family through all the centuries that have passed.
