This book is mostly a rehash of information easily found in numerous books about Tom Mix; there is little new although the reviews portray the book as being the definitive work to date on Tom Mix. The author, who apparently is striving to write a scholarly book, is ignorant of proper citation methodology. The majority of this work found in the footnotes is from a few books that have been around for sometime. Moreover, the author attempts to embellish the work with mundane and archaic metaphors, often using cowboy phraseology reminiscent of Red Ryder and Lone Ranger comics. If you are looking for the quintessential work on Tom Mix, Richard Jensen's "The Amazing Tom Mix" falls decidedly short.
