I haven't actually read much of this book yet, but I wanted it because I've been blessed by some of Buechner's other non-fiction. His thoughts are deep, soulful and honest. They reflect both the heart of a man (we are all in need of something more than ourselves) and of a loving God. My soul resonates with his thoughts quite a lot. He's thoughtful and humble. He speaks of everyday things but often brings out deep truths in the reading. At times in my pride I've thought, "I could write like him," but then he says something profound and I am blown away. He doesn't have all the answers, but he is good to read along the journey.
