In 1972, her Lives of Girls and Women was winner of the Canadian Booksellers Association International Book Year Award, and a section of this novel was produced in the CBC Performance series. In 1977, she was the first Canadian to be awarded the Canada-Australia Literary Prize. Her other publications include Something I've Been Meaning to Tell You (1974) and Who Do You Think You Are? (1978), the latter winning for Munro her second Governor General's Award.
