I read this book. Re read this book and it saved my life. It is not a disease but an impulse control. Once I figured out the reason I was drinking and fixed it I know longer had the desire to drink. I have been sober for 15 years. I am not a recovering addict I am a cured former alcoholic.,
I have given this book to several people and when they see my success they to have been helped. Get it read it love it.

little value
This book is of little value, mainly because the author seems to gloss over primary needs of the person entering & staying in recovery. General tips for healthy eating, exercise, relaxation, stress management - in short, living a balanced life - apply for all of us. Addicts need additional information & practical advice specific to their individual needs.
The book IS well organized with much helpful information, but there are better choices out there.
Good fortune to all who read this & seek healthy &sustained recovery!

Recovery Lite
This book is for the person who believes that someone else can get them "clean and sober". - That it is not an inside job! The author and his father believe that they have invented something new, when in fact, solid evidence based treatments have moved far beyond their methods. No matter what form of treatment a person is subjected to, he/she will get sober if and when he/she is ready to commit to sobriety. Unfortunately, wealthy West Coasters need to make public moves to ameliorate their consequences and they are the victimized by these ill-trained folks. The book is an annoying read, because it is filled with ego, not information.
