Most of what we "know" of this Texas Creation Myth is based on oral tradition from the 19th century and 20th century extrapolation from the entertainment industry. This collection is a useful starter for separating what might be true from what is not.
Everything that came out of the Alamo and went in, accounts of what the survivors said shortly afterwards and decades later is here. As a longtime observer of the various accounts as a result of being born and living near San Antonio, I never thought I would come across one volume so useful. It does not diminish the drama of the event at all.
