Forces a women-inspired and women-centered abortion solution capable of preserving both a women's right to control her body and her freedom to choose or reject motherhood. At the centre of the book are interviews with 45 pro-choice and pro-life Australian women. Many of the women Cannold interviews have no doubt that it is their right to choose abortion, yet the many unanswered questions about the morality of abortion have become too loud to ignore. Are there irresponsible pregnancies? What reasons for having abortions are bad ones? Does the foetus matter, how much and why? And even if women have a right to choose abortion, is it always right to make that choice? These women argue that abortion is not simply a health issues - it is a difficult moral issue; one in which women's responsibilities are as important as their rights. Cannold argues that the lonsgstanding feminist position on abortion is out of touch with many women's experiences and is vulnerable to rapid changes in reproductive technologies.
