This history was the result of a fairly novel experiment by the US Army to have a historian on staff and write up the history of the division.
Theodore Draper was a writer, journalist prior to joining to Army. His writing style is clear and concise.
This history follows the regiment from its 2nd founding in 1942 through to V-E day (May 8, 1945)
In the original 1946 edition the water colors by Walter Chapman are in color and fold out. In the reprint by The Battery Press (yr 2000) the water colors are in grey, black and white and are divided by the books binding if they are two pages. The reprint edition has the official roster of the 84th Infantry Division.
This is the resource I keep turning to when tracking my father's participation in WW II.
