That'll Flat Git It, Vol. 6 is the second time Bear Family dipped into the vaults of Decca Records to assemble a collection of rare and arcane rockabilly (the first was Vol. 2), and while the results aren't quite as consistently entertaining as its predecessor, Vol. 6 is nevertheless one of the finest installments of the series. The key to its success is how the bizarre backwoods rockers are juxtaposed with country singers like Red Foley, Justin Tubb, Rex Allen, and Red Sovine trying to ride the rockabilly wave. Not all of the songs are strong, but the best -- Billy Harlan's "School House Rock," Lou Graham's "Wee Willie Brown," James Gallagher's "Crazy Chicken," Warner Mack's "Roc-A-Chicka," Eddie Fontaine's "One and Only," Billy Gray's "Tennessee Toddy," Baker Knight & Knightmares' "Bring My Cadillac Back," the Rockin' Saints' "Cheat On Me Baby" and Jerry Engler's "Sputnik (Satellite Girl)" -- are pure fun. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
