This tale of love between two school girls is pure poetry. For example, "We listened to the rippling of our hearts in the dust. Tiny white horses rode in our breasts" (47). "Seasons, give us your rags. Let us be wanderers with our hair slicked down by rain" (76). I found myself underlining passages on every page. Wild, passionate, adolescent love is described with such delicacy that it will waken memories in all who have ever experienced the shipwreck (her term) of passionate attraction.
