Take any circular section, a b, a'bf, of the spheroid, and imagine a line to move so as to always meet this circle and be parallel to the axis m n, m'n' of the given cylinder. This moving line will describe the surface of a cylinder every horizontal section of which will be a circle equal to a b, a'V.
