My mom and I read only inspirational fiction historical romance books. This author is new to me, though. I was immediately drawn to the cover of the book. I read all the info I could find about the book, and it sounded like a good one. When I got it, my mom read it. She liked it "pretty good". So, I started reading it. I was into about an hour of reading it when I discovered that this author might best be suited to writing books that are not inspirational. I have not finished the book. I am simply "SICK" of the word "wh___" in the book. I believe that a suitable alternative word could have been used with just as much impact. I also grew very tired of reading about how the woman's breasts...... They filled, they were heavy, the babies suckled, the babies rooted......it was ridiculous. I did not think as a reader that we had to know about how her body reacted when the babies cried. Women pretty much know how a woman's body reacts to a new born when she is breast feeding. But, Lord have mercy, this book is FILLED with references to the woman's breasts. Also, a very descriptive part of the book about how the woman (Gloria) looked when she was found in the "wh_____ house" at the Fort. The author vividly describes how the woman was lying on the mattress, etc. All through the book, the author talks about faith in God and looking for God and waiting on God, etc. But then right in the middle of it, she uses the word "wh------" and "breasts" and Gloria's escapade at the Fort, how she looked when he found her, etc. PLEASE!!! If this author writes another book that captures my attention by the cover, I will read into the book a couple of chapters before deciding to buy it. There was a wonderful plot.....the story was great, sad, happy, all of the good things in a book. But, as much as the author likes to describe bodies and reactions to things, I think she should be writing for Harlequin romance. Not inspirational. If you want a story that is good and you almost can't put it down, this is a great book, if you can overlook all of the other things about "wh----s" and women's bodies!
