Enthusiasts of vintage radio as well as fans of the Sons of the Pioneers will enjoy The Teleways Transcriptions, a collection of four complete radio shows recorded in 1947, including intros, humorous between-song patter, and instrumental interludes for the reading of sponsors' messages, not to mention the accomplished playing and harmonies of the Sons. The material ranges from Western, sacred and sentimental songs to novelties and "ethnic" numbers. Unlike many radio transcriptions, on these shows the Sons perform complete songs rather than excerpts. The sound quality of the CD, mastered from transcription discs, is good but not on par with studio recordings, and each complete program is indexed as one track so that individual songs can be accessed only by scanning through the others.
