This volume deals with these topics from different theological perspectives: Old Testament and Jewish studies, New Testament and church history provide the basis for further inquiries from a dogmatic and practical-theological point of view. A discussion of baptism as a religious and social ritual is also included. On this basis, the volume provides insights into the current status of the debate as well as suggestions for future discussions about baptism as well as for ecclesiastical practice.
