Unrecognized sacrifices
No time for a real "literary" review, but Halbrook's account detailed how "neutral" Switzerland was in a life and death struggle for its existence for the entire duration of WW-II, in addition to the pre-war threat and even during the German retreat. They were physically surrounded and economically vulnerable, near starvation, etc, yet showed a cultural cohesion, intelligence, and resolve that we could use a lot more of today. Halbrook's effort is well researched and written. I could not put my copy down and bought a second copy as a gift.
