Seller's Description:
Very Good. Size: 5x0x8; 0531151190 From School Library Journal Grade 4-7--Croaker has a reputation as a troublemaker, so when money starts disappearing from his seventh-grade room, he is blamed and sent to the principal. He discovers that his classmate, Angela, is the real thief, but when he confronts her, she runs away from him. In the ensuing chase, Croaker falls and breaks his arm, Angela goes for help, and ends up confessing. Intermingled with the basic story are several subplots: Croaker and a friend plan to hunt wild turkeys for a science project until they are told it's illegal, a handicapped boy is forced to be the pitcher on the kickball team, a bully shows a sensitive side, and Croaker's friend is physically abused at home. All of these extra plots make the book distracting and disjointed. Sometimes characters are described as being black or white, but this doesn't seem to have any bearing on the story. This book lacks continuity and has too many themes to do any of them justice. --Bonnie L. Raasch, C. B.
