The selections often dig past obvious hits to less obvious items, like Husky's 1952 recording of "Gone" with Speedy West on guitar (which he would re-record a few years later in Nashville for a big hit), Jan Howard's "I Wish I Was a Single Girl Again" (written by husband Harlan), the "Please Mr. D.J." 1964 B-side by Merle Haggard, and Bobby Austin's "Apartment #9" (covered with greater success by Tammy Wynette).
