He opened them, and they were as blue and innocent as those of the little boy she had seen in the goblins hall twelve years before. Puzzled, he sat up in bed. Astrid s beaming face told him that something joyful had happened, but when she held a silver mirror in front of him and he saw the strange face in it, he did not think that it was handsome. Astrid had to tell him how it all had happened, and in the mean time the owl sat muttering to himself. "Well," he said, "now you cannot stay here any longer, for the goblins will put you in their soup-kettles as soon as they see that you are goblins no more." "But where can we go?" asked Gusten and Astrid, frightened. "To begin with, we must make goblins of you again, so that nobody will suspect anything," said the owl.
