The numbers necessary for a sensible energy policy
This book is dedicated to "those who will not have the benefit of two billion years' accumulated energy reserves," and accepts our need to move away from fossil fuel. To this end, it evaluates in detail the numbers behind our use of energy - in terms of housing, transport, etc. - and the alternative ways we could generate energy - wind, solar, etc.
The hard equations are separated off into separate technical chapters, so the book is not too overwhelming for the average layperson.
Overall, as someone who has been interested in this area of public policy for some time, I found the book very enlightening.
