Fine. Inscribed by Author(s) First printing thus. A fine copy. A copy with clean text. Although not marked in any such way, this book came from the library of poet and literary critic J.D. McClatchy, from his estate in Stonington, Connecticut. This copy has been SIGNED by W.S. Merwin (one of the translators) and Antonio Frasconi (the illustrator) on the limitation page, as pictured. Merwin also signed and warmly inscribed this copy (from himself and his wife, Paula) on the front endpaper to James (Merrill), as pictured. ASSOCIATION copy. A beautiful copy of a very rare edition of poems by Soseki (the most famous monk at his time, in the 14th century).
