German description: Die Dokumentation basiert auf 175 Kabinetts-Ordres, die Konig Friedrich II. zwischen 1763 und 1783 an den Generalinspekteur der ostpreussischen Infanterie Joachim Friedrich von Stutterheim gerichtet hatte. Sie stellen das vom Roi Connetable nach dem Siebenjahrigen Krieg neu eingerichtete Inspektionswesen der Armee schlaglichtartig mit der Frage auf den Prufstand, ob die damit verbundene Kompetenzverlagerung nach unten zum Zweck eines zugigen Retablissements der in der langen Kriegszeit abgenutzten Regimenter erfolgreich verlief. Ebenso erhellen die Dokumente die personlichen Beziehungen zwischen Friedrich und seinem Infanterie-Generalinspekteur in Konigsberg. Sie waren manchen Belastungsproben ausgesetzt und klangen doch am Ende sehr versohnlich aus. Noch zugespitzter erlauben die Ordres die Uberlegung, aus welchem Holz dieser eher unbekannte friederizianische General von Stutterheim eigentlich geschnitzt gewesen war. Erwies sich seine Inspekteurbestallung 1763 als Stellenfehlbesetzung? Wie meisterte er die Probleme der Mobilmachung 1778? Harmonierten oder kontrastierten die Schriftquellen mit einem Portrat, das er ca. 1768/70 von sich malen liess?
